CP24/CityTV -- Andy Walker discussed the future of the digital home with host David Onley. He talk about his visit to IBM's Pervasive Computing Lab in Austin, Texas. At the facility they have mocked up a living room kitchen and garage. All devices in the "house" can be controlled from the screen fridge, TV or a wireless webpad. Special stickers called RF tags can also be attached to any item to provide wireless information about them. The non-powered tags - which look like a circuit board on a sticker - can be used to ID any object and locate it in the house using wireless technology.

The access is available in crew cabins (using IBM gear) and in passenger staterooms (you bring your own laptop). All 1050 passengers share a 128 kbps connection and pay a premium for the service. It's 50 cents US per minute.
