FAQ: Backing Up
![]()
You have sent and received a series of e-mail messages that prove that you are the sole author of a theory, according to which the earth is flat. (What took you so long, anyhow?)
You have written a novel that will make you a Nobel Prize winner in no time.
You have prepared a presentation that will make your boss get up and say - in front of everybody - that the office would be nowhere without you.
Just one thing: All of this wonderful stuff sits on your computer and the machine has decided - without any warning and all of a sudden - to crash on you.
But you were smart. Not only did you keep saving all the data, you went even one step further -- you kept backing it up on tapes, disks, or CDs.
Unfortunately, not all of us are as smart as you - you're a Nobel Prize candidate, after all, remember? - and that's where answers to frequently asked questions ("FAQ" in computer-ese) come in.
Read them and behave accordingly. And if you thank Cyberwalker in your Nobel Prize acceptance speech, that would be nice too.
