The HP2000C Color Printer is very fast, clear and impressive.
It prints full color photographs with fantastic resolution
in the time other printers would take to output black and white.
Its separate ink cartridge mechanisms (allowing one of four
colors to be changed, as opposed to bundling two or all of them)
will save users money.
The unit offers a professional look, at less than a professional
price ($599 US / $900 Canadian).
The paper tray of the HP2000C Color Printer will hold 150 sheets.
An optional accessory paper tray (a pricey $240 US / $360
Canadian extra) will lift capacity to 250 sheets. A benefit
to the extra cost for the accessory is the ability to hold two
different stocks (or colors) of paper in the printer. A capacity
of 400 sheets should provide plenty of capacity for small business
use. If your business generates more printed pages tbat that
daily, you probably should be looking at a more expensive unit
that can handle a higher volume, for instance, one in the HP3000
series.
Full color pages print quickly and vividly from the the HP2000C
but beware when pulling paper from the out tray. Black ink smears
easily and, while the paper tested was not of the highest quality,
inferior deskjets tested with the same paper smeared less.
Users who do not immediately rub the ink are rewarded with
a black and white output of tremendous quality. A test page
of colors indicated that 100 percent black shade might not dry
as quickly as desired.
The installation and accompanying software are a snap. The
printer management software is easy to use and offers plenty
of diagnostic help and toner status indicators. This printer
can be installed and configured by almost anyone.
The unit itself is not heavy, but big. Unfortunately, the flap,
which lifts to show the cartridges, feels shabbily constructed
and is easily broken. It could be inadvertently ripped off during
use.
The Hewlett Packard 2000C is a very good printer. It is ideal
for use in the office environment assuming you are looking to
output high-quality color and black and white if you are not
treating your office printer like a printing press. Despite
the professional series branding, this printer is not meant
for professional printing.
The unit is at its best when combined with the additional paper
tray, boosting capacity from 150 to 400 pages. With this accessory
or alone, $599 should be within your printer price range. If
you are careful not to be rough with the flap, the HP 2000C
is a strong small-business choice.

Comments: Great speed, great color, a little smudge prone.
Affordable, high quality. Accessory tray is pricey.
