Overview:

Uniblue's WinTasks 5 Professional (Version 5.04) is an application that shows you the background processes running on your computer. Once, when it was brand new, your computer was quick and fleet of foot. These days, it has trouble keeping up with turtles. What can you do to get some of that zip back? You can use an application such as Uniblue's WinTasks 5 Professional. This application takes the built-in Windows Task Manager and supercharges it.

Pros of WinTasks 5 Professional:

This application is very adept at listing all the software running on your computer and is chock-full of information. It shows how much system memory and the percentage of CPU cycles any given application is using. The program interface provides a clear description of each process that is easy to read and understand. You can boost your systems performance by halting or blocking processes that your computer does not need to function normally. Even though there are 18 different settings buttons, it is easy to use this application once you become familiar with it. There are so many options and features it is difficult to cover them all in this review.

Cons of WinTasks 5 Professional:

To get a trial version of the application, you need to provide your name and an e-mail address. You are on your own when figuring out which applications to deactivate/block. This application may seem a bit daunting to the average computer user. Some might find it has too much information. It is not compatible with Windows Vista. You can seriously mess up your computer if you are not careful when using this application. Three mouse clicks to close and exit the program.

Comments:

A very capable program that helps you corral and control the background processes running on your computer. Lacking in specific guidance to help the average computer user to determine what can be either blocked or disabled. Not necessarily for a beginner-level computer user.
