Spouses
of bearded men, rejoice, the Wahl Trim 'N Vac is one more
tool to help you keep your sanity.
The gadget has a built in vacuum system that sucks trimmings
away as it neatens up his beard, neckline and sideburns.
Just, think, no more nibbly bits left in the sink
However innovative, the trimmer requires some care by the
trimee. My bearded tester reports that, "The vacuum
is more than 85 per cent effective at the job. The manufacturer's
suggestion that you use the unit to re-vacuum missed clippings
is a bit of a cry for help. A quick rinse down the sink
is faster and easier."
In the cutting department, an eleven setting beard guide
can take you from 1/16th of an inch (1.5mm) to 1/2 of an
inch (12.65mm). A dual cutter easily swivels from a wide
main cutting blade to a smaller detailing blade. Other handy
features include cord or cordless operation, a handy stand,
a moustache brush, and Wahl clipper oil.
A NiCd rechargeable battery powers the trimmer, though
the recharging cord will also run the unit from a wall socket.
The battery is not replaceable and has an estimated life
span of 3 to 5 years.
The little machine gets rave, earning a place on my tester's
bathroom counter. "The cutting power is great,"
he said, "The vacuum's not perfect but is more than
sufficient."
