The
Sony Playstation, Sonys hot but now aging video game technology,
has been reinvented in a portable unit that has its own
color LCD screen.
The device which measures five inches diagonally is small enough
to take with you, though strangely it has no battery technology
to power it. You have to plug it in.
Nevertheless since there is perhaps 800 or so games for this
gaming platform it makes sense to invent a new device that gives
the older software a new lease on life. However if you have
seen the new gaming brethren such as the Playstation 2, the
Microsoft Xbox or the Nintendo GameCube, then prepare to be
a little disappointed. The action is still pretty fun on the
PS One, but the graphics are slightly less rendered and the
experience looks a little old compared to the new gear. But
thats what happens when technology ages.
The smart techies at Sony figure youd retire your old
games to the cottage, so it makes sense to create a PS One gadget
that works at the cottage and is easy to shuttle back and forth.
Perhaps thats not such a bad idea because thats
probably where your Sony Betamax and Walkman are, right?
