The
Kodak MC3 is a digital camera that can snap stills or record
short video files. It can also play your MP3 audio files.
The multi-talented device has one shortcoming though. It
comes with a 16 MB storage card. So that means it has the
capacity to store 16 minutes of audio (about four six songs).
(There is however a new version with a 64 MB available at
Amazon.com)
Alternately you can store up to 110 pictures on the storage
card. They are stored at a resolution of 640 x 480 dots
per inch, which means they are only useful for viewing on
a computer screen. Printouts of these images result in poor
quality pictures.
If you choose to record video, you can store up to about
five and half minutes of video at the lowest quality setting.
This means that the device will record the video at 10 frames
a second and will play back at a resolution of 320 x 240
dpi.
Again, this is only useful to play in a little video window
on a computer.
Certainly you can buy a larger storage card to improve the
storage capabilities of the camera so you can take more
pictures, store more video and carry around more music.
This device is more of a toy than a serious camera or music
player, however if you want more space in your pockets and
are aiming to use the images you capture on a computer it's
an interesting option.
Price: $359 Canadian, $199 US.
