My computer crashed yesterday, and when i tried to restart it. It said " Please insert boot device or restart and select proper boot device"
i followed the Advice on here to Change my BIOS so it will try boot from disk drive with my windows cd. It wont initiate anything from there.
I would try to post my computer specs but i cannot Check them.
all i know from heart is it is a Pentium 4 processor running windows xp
i was told by a friend that the computer is Fubar'd and nothing i can do about it and to switch out my HD in that computer for a brand new HD so i can still play World of Warcraft. and that i have lost all of my data. but would that cause any problems?

Hang on jdd565. I think your data is still on the drive. I would recommend you to connect the hard drive as a slave to another healthy system and run a Data Recovery Software. One thing to remember here is that, if your drive is not being detected as a slave then, no data recovery software can help you. In such case Data Recovery Services can help your get back your data but are very expensive.

Try your luck.

If you are looking for the data recovery then you can try Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery Software a file and partition recovery utility which recovers data from inaccessible hard drive or formatted hard drive. It also helps in recovering the data lost due to software malfunction, viruses, file/directory deletion or even sabotage.
Download the demo to try the software from: http://www.stellarinfo.com/partition-recovery.htm
